Not undercover work[edit]

This is ridiculous. The cat did not have any undercover work. It was not posing or pretending anything and did not investigate anything. It had no awareness of the sting. It did not have a job as a police officer. Is Wikipedia really a place to post cutesy cat stories phrased as if the cats were people?

Cats should be kept indoors[edit]

Believe me, I love cats too. But I would still feel bad about denying a cat the joys of exploring his instincts outside. In a busy city, it may indeed be wise to keep cats indoors at all time. But some live in places where there is far less danger of such accidents. You may think that cats should be kept indoors no matter what, but though held by many, it is still just a viewpoint. I love my cat a whole lot. She's gone outside since she was big enough to... go outside. She's creeping up on fifteen and she has never been hit by a car. True, her sister got hit by a car, and the young tom we got afterwards "disappeared", but... If anything, it's proof that humans don't belong driving around in a cat's habitat.

As I perused this webpage today I felt the need to make a few friendly comments/discussion points. It seems to me that those few people that feel the need to edit this page are forgetting the most important aspect of "Fred the undercover kitty". Fred was a cat!! Please remember that domestic shorthair is a fancy name for 'alley cat' or 'mutt'. Let us also not forget that Fred was lucky enough to have found a great owner that loved him dearly, but Fred did not apprehend the fugitives, it was the humans surrounding Fred that carried out the arrests. It seems a little far-fetched to anthropomorphosize (sp?) this cat. Otherwise, this seems like a very sweet memorial to a cat by a loving owner, nothing more. It should be left as just that. Just my opinions, feel free to have your own opinion. It is as we say a free world. I also believe that cats should be kept indoors, unless you are lucky enough to live in the seclusion of the country. CatLoverInNebraska 16:32, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's pretty clear that enlisted by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office is being said figuratively. If the City of New York gives Fred an award, I think Wikipedia can lighten up a little and go along with the story. Peter Grey 00:01, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Changes[edit]

I made some minor changes for clarity. the article contained the bizarre phrase "posing as a fake Veternarian" twice. WHAT??? Posing as a fake anything is not a crime. Posing as a REAL vet is a crime. I edited the article accordingly.Lisapollison 02:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
