Deleted[edit]

I deleted this phrase "(張福林, pinyin: Zhāng Fùlín) " as the "Chinese name" is merely a cornotation of his name Franklin. It is in fact, misleading to say that it is a Chinese name. Wikizap 19:54, 23 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Franklin Chang-Diaz is listed as the "first Hispanic-American person" in space. Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez is also Hispanic and from the Americas. Shouldn't Chang-Diaz be listed as the first Hispanic-U.S. citizen in space? Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez was launched into space as a Cuban cosmonaut by the Soviet Union in 1980. Popularity in Costa Rica[edit]

  • Friends told me that his popularity in Costa Rica is extraordinary. But I have not found a written source about this yet. Any idea where to look ?Hektor 09:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am Costa Rican and yes, everybody knows who he is.
Someone should write about Ad Astra Rocket, located in Liberia, Guancaste

The main problem with that statment is that the references are mostly in Spanish. If you want to know about the popularity of Mr. Chang-Díaz, then search inside the main costarrican papers (www.nacion.com and diarioextra.com)--FrancescBlandino 18:51, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Circular reference -- need a new source.[edit]

Unfortunately, the Oct 2008 Hispanic Heritage Month "Daily Fact" source (pdf) claims to be sourced from Wikipedia, so it is not a reliable source for assertions in a Wikipedia article. The full citation, currently in the article as of 19 Mar 2010, is: <ref name=HHMdf20081015> [http://www.ct.gov/dcf/lib/dcf/adolescent_services/hispanic/101508_franklin_chang-diaz_daily_fact.pdf Hispanic Heritage Month – Daily Fact], October 15, 2008, accessed 2010-03-10.</ref>

I assume good faith on the part of all editors who have used this source, including myself. However, we will need to find other sources for the claims previously cited by the HHM factsheet, or remove the claims from Wikipedia. N2e (talk) 18:36, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the removed the "Hispanic Heritage Month 'Daily Fact' " newsletter source and tagged the relevant assertions {{Citation Needed}}. This source was unreliable due to being sourced circularly from Wikipedia, as was noted in the article and above (on the Talk page) two weeks ago. N2e (talk) 03:50, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Obama space policy speech[edit]

Hmm, develop a commercially-operated space industry instead of having only on a government operating organisation, we should go to Mars as a goal, developing more advanced space propulsion instead of the old fashion chemical propulsion, shielding technologies to protect the astronauts during deep space flight... When I heard Obama's speech I was immediately thinking of Dr. Franklin Chang-Diaz. Was Chang-Diaz somehow the advisor for Obama's new space plans? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.211.40.7 (talk) 10:33, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And The Pursuit of Happiness[edit]

first wife?[edit]

the current wording lists 2 "elder" daughters, marriage a full decade later, then 2 "younger" daughters. the obvious conclusion is that the first 2 were to a diff woman.

likewise, wiki for one of the elder daughters, sonia (famous in her own right) lists him as sole parent! what's going on? did the first wife "disappear"? legally committed for mental issues? returned to costa rica and never heard from again?

even if she died young, one would think it'd be detailed here and in the sonia article.

just plain ODD. cannot find info ANYWHERE about sonia "birth mother"! 66.30.47.138 (talk) 02:30, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ok, found it. first wife "canoce buker...with whom he had 2 children".
and yet, neither his nor sonia's articles even MENTION her!
what's the deal here? usually pretty rare for a child to deny birth-MOTHER existence. 66.30.47.138 (talk) 02:47, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
