Dispute?[edit]

Franka is an important, well published, European comic. It is not a fly-by-night affair or some amatuer's attempt at webcomics. I am admittedly a novice (or hack) at creating pages, but I feel that my inexperience should not impede the inclusion of this entry. --Zhafnium 08:19, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Googlehits etc[edit]

Franka (the comic series) googles at 43,500 hits, which seems notable enough, and has substantial articles on the Dutch and German wikipedias. The series has been regularly published internationally (in Europe) since the 1970s, and I see no reason to doubt Zhafnium's comments. I have therefore put an "in use" tag on it and will work it up over the weekend - would be grateful if it could be left alone for that long!HeartofaDog 01:03, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some additions made - quite a lot more that could be added, if necessary. Please leave "inuse" tag for another week, as there are some extra things I want to check. HeartofaDog 00:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sleuth?[edit]

The article stated several places she is a private investigator, and a category lists her among Fictional private investigators, but the only English ref states archaeologist, and my own memory (a couple of albums many years ago) is inconclusive. Did this character officially become a PI? Murghdisc. 04:14, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She starts working for the criminal museum, and then sort of merges into the role. Later on, she has her own PI agency. MadMaxDog 12:18, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Aha. Thanks. Will the current text work then? Murghdisc. 13:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Uhhh, actually, the archeologist thing would be considered wrong (I just changed her occupation in the article). She has no scientific training or (as far as I remember) interest as such. She just often ends up in that line because the stuff is valuable (and hey, makes a good story). Later on in the series, its also much more about art & fashion, rather than Lara Croft type elements. MadMaxDog 09:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Weirdly enough, the archeology reference does crop up in multiple places. But its not in the comics at all, not in the sense of anything 'professional', or even, as I noted, much of a SPECIFIC interest in antiquities. The PI angleis certainly correct, but what do other people think - is the archeology thing just something that was incorrectly put into one of the blurbs about her and has since stuck around? MadMaxDog 09:54, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is weird. It's a curse sometimes we're bound to repeating the facts of references ;) Considering the proximity of Lambiek and Franka, it's very strange if they'd get it crucially wrong.. Murghdisc. 22:42, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strange sentence[edit]

The almost two year gap between the two Dragon-episodes was interrupted early 1985 by fake
adverts of Franka deleting Oriental forgeries.

I don't really understand this sentence. It looks as a bad direct translation from Dutch or something? How is Franka "deleting"? I only use that term in connection with computers. And what would "forgeries" mean in this case? Pirated editions of Franka books or what? The sentence is unclear... 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 20:23, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
