No, see Maurice Dease and Sidney Frank Godley both awarded the VC for actions the previous day. David Underdown (talk) 14:31, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Though checking further I see he appears at the head of the list of the first Gazette notifying VCs for WWI, so by some definitions, he is the first. David Underdown (talk) 16:56, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
