Untitled[edit]

Please do not reduce this article to a stub. It has useful information that is easily checked. In its restored form it embodies basic knowledge of fractal software that is shared by all people who use such software. An article on soap does not require a citation in support of the statement that many people use soap to wash.

Even in the list form it's still a stub - in fact, technically it's more stubby in that form, since stubs are usually classified as such on the basis of their text ignoring any templates or lists. I agree, though, it makes more sense keeping the list of examples separate. The features, however, are another matter, and may well be better served by a paragraph. Thanks for your reply. I agree that the article is not great, but that is no reason to make it worse. In its original form it was written in paragraphs but got reduced to points. I don't like articles written in point form and I had the impression that wikipedia discourages the practice, but this is how it ended up. You're welcome to redraft the features list as a paragraph but it will probably be reverted to list form.Soler97 (talk) 20:51, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

We need to agree which external links this page should contain. 71.42.88.198 has added external links on various occasions going back to January 2009. Various editors, myself included, have removed them on the grounds that Wikipedia is not designed to be a repository for external links. Rather than start an edit war, let's talk about it. My view is that the list of Fractal Generating Software should only contain links to other pages on Wikipedia (or be placeholders to pages that could be written in due course). {{edit request}} Hi, I have written this [1] here based on solely academic interest, and it is the only one available which can dynamically generate escape time fractals based on mathematical expressions passed to it.. It has all the other features of coloring, color blending too, and open sourced, free. written in .NET and/or mono. Can you guys please evaluate and take a look and decide if it is appropriate to be added here? In specificity [2] and [3] these type of rendering is never before seen, as there *is not a single one 2 dimensional fractal viewer* capable of doing it. Thank you folks.

The section was put back, under the new heading of "List of notable fractal-generating softwares". This began in August 2013, and several editors were beginning to add links to it again. Nobody had come back here to argue the case for doing this; there were comments in the page source warning against adding links unnecessarily, which were ignored. I've removed the section again. If anyone thinks User:Ekabhishek was right to start rebuilding the section, please explain why. JROakley (talk) 10:17, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fractal curves[edit]

The is nothing about the generation of fractal curves. All of these were produced with various methods, many of which aren't mentioned. I don't have the advanced understanding of mathematics required to comprehend how the various fractal types differ.
