The article indicates that Ft. Revere was once named Ft. Independence, but there is no source for this claim, and the Ft. Independence I'm familiar with is that on Castle Island in South Boston. My records indicate that land for the the current Ft. Revere was purchased by the government in 1898 and the first Coast Artillery company was stationed there in October, 1902.
