I saw a 1995 Scorpio in a elevator. I could not believe my eyes: The gas tank is aft the rear axle, just as in the infamous Ford Pinto and Ford Crown Victoria. Oh, yes, the Scorpio is a much more substantial car that the flimsy Pinto...but, anyway, that gas location is suboptimal.

--How on earth did a car get in a lift?

I do not know what this guys of Ford are thinking: Since the 1970´s, the gas tank is located forward of the rear axle, far from the crumple zone and inside of the survival cell. Take a look at the cars at your local junkyard to see it.

Do you want to buy a Ford?. Take a look first at the location of the gas tank.Randroide 09:57, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merkur Scorpio Picture??:[edit]

Where Is The Merkur Scorpio Picture?!... Wasn't There One On Here Before?? In-Correct 02:38, 4 February 2007 (UTC)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by In-Correct (talkcontribs) 02:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I remember seeing a documentation on TV about the mark 2 in the nineties. The designer of the car was interviewed, which is interesting because the main article at the time of writing says the designer is unknown. If I remember it correctly he was of austrian nobility origin, and his face strangely resembled the design of the mark 2. sounds weird, but that´s how I remember it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.220.104.3 (talk) 22:03, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Merkur Scorpio needs its own page. I can not believe that it doesn't have one. I am going to create it. In-Correct (talk) 17:01, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Scorpio XR 5i[edit]

Does anyboy have more information about the Scorpio XR5i sports car? I just know, one prototype has built (at least). Pictures of this XR5i prototype were seen in 1985 German magazine. Why this car never has been built in a serial? --Holger1974 (talk) 19:37, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're a Scorpio? I'm a Taurus.[edit]

The Mark I and Mark II models of this car and the first and second generation Taurus look very similar, but neither article indicates whether either design was influenced by the other. Coincidence? Hellbus (talk) 22:47, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced content[edit]

A few day ago, I removed this edit for the reasons given here. Today user Mr.choppers restored it but made a slight—also unsourced—change, claiming "CN tag most likely regarding only the (dubious) last sentence - the remainder is well written and should be easily sourced." I removed the unsourced section again per "If it can be easily sourced, then please do so before adding it again." Unsourced content was restored again per "CN tag was only for last sentence, and that was changed." Mr.choppers' standpoint is clear: we can allow this unsourced content.

Comments anyone? - DVdm (talk) 00:00, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am fairly certain that the cn tag was only for the rather dubious last sentence, which I changed. Since it is obviously still seen as problematic I modified this last sentence again to allow for a citation (added) but I hope to encounter a better, more comprehensive source soon. Looking at your detective work above, I agree that the 192. ip edit was no good. I restored the previous version with a minor alteration, but the old cn tag predates that edit as well. See what you think of the current version, I think we can easily reach a nice compromise here. Cheers,  Mr.choppers | ✎  00:18, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Merkur Scorpio into this article.[edit]

I am proposing Merkur Scorpio be merged into this article. Unlike the XR4Ti, I don't think the Merkur Scorpio is different enough from the Ford to warrant it's own entry. Plus the Merkur entry is short, not very well written and doesn't contain enough unique information to justify itself. I think the Merkur Scorpio section in this article is all the coverage that car really needs. Reattacollector (talk) (via public computer). 64.85.150.114 (talk) 19:14, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that the proposal was closed with this edit at same time as that article was significantly improved. If you still this a merge is warranted I suggest re-proposing. Klbrain (talk) 04:22, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Another good reason for the failure of the Scorpio...[edit]

...was the quality of the interior's materials and assembly. For examples, it doesn't take a magnifying glass to reveal that the wood in the upscale models is fake since the halftone printing can be detected with the bare eye; the plastic does really look like plastic used on Japanese vehicles of the 80s. It didn't took long for many switches showing peeling coatings or general failure which can cause serious problems today since the respective spare parts are almost out of stock. --2A02:560:423C:8D00:B04C:47C3:A268:687A (talk) 11:44, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

sp = uk[edit]

I changed the preferred spelling tag for this article to UK. The Ford Scorpio/Granada has strong connections to the UK while the US-market Merkur Scorpio has its own article. Please discuss if you have any concerns.  Mr.choppers | ✎  03:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
