Fair use rationale for Image:Floyd1.jpg[edit]

Image:Floyd1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Cultural references[edit]

A good deal of information was previously removed from this article, some of the removals giving the reason that it was not about the actor (Howard McNear). Character articles are not about the actor - they are about the character, and discussion of cultural references and influence on pop culture is appropriate for such an article (MOS:TV). The article is a character article about Floyd the character, not Howard McNear the actor. Some of the information removed was unreferenced and so should have been noted as needing a citation (as much of the article was at the time), but the cited information should not have been removed without a better reason than it not being about McNear. Family inconsistencies[edit]

A recent edit mentioned "Floyd’s son, Norman, is only mentioned, in the episode The Jinx, but never seen. Floyd’s son Darryl is seen when Floyd has him play Saxophone for Wilbur Finch while Floyd buys shoes in the episode Those Gossipin' Men." This is inconsistent with the cited source (Beck & Clark's The Andy Griffith Show Book) which indicates he only has one son (Norman). This needs a secondary source, or if cited by primary sources (i.e. the episode) likely needs to address the difference between the two. ButlerBlog (talk) 13:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
