Merged[edit]

I am not sure whether this page should stand alone or be merged into Fixed asset. I am open to suggestions. Jehochman 16:29, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think it can be alone. It would certainly benefit from expansion, though. Renata3 03:53, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Software is not often a fixed asset as it is not typically owned, or resold from a non development prespective. M. Melliner

I am glad that the discussion did not become merged with the fixed asset page. There are many things missing as I would like to see more of the methodologies of acquisition and management both of the physical asset and the management system. As for software, although I agree it isn't typically owned, it should be a fixed asset for the simple reason that when paid for, it came with a license agreement and that agreement is what is the value is calculated on. If you value a company with 100 employees, that value has to include the valuation of the software running on the servers and workstations while any licensing shortcomings will be viewed (and calculated) as a detriment to a value. For this definition I would like to see someone add data to bring the fixed assets management entry up to the same quality as the infrastructure asset management page. shayneneal 21:18, 09 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Preventive maintenance[edit]

Is fixed asset management related specifically to preventive maintenance, or generally for any kind of maintenance, including corrective maintenance, and prognostics? And is there an important relationship with logistics? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.148.214.178 (talk) 17:39, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I need to exchange opinion about Depreciation of Fixed Assets in non profitable Org or Charity Org
in my opinion no depreciation should be counted in case of Charity Hospital , and non profitable organization, if you have different opinion please feed me back.
