This page should replace Gene_fixation, and the Fixation disambiguation page should be updated, as ANY mutation (not just genes) can become fixed. JVC 09:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Something missing?[edit]

Hi

The second paragraph in the Probability section ends with the sentence that begins:

  The probability of fixation is then {\displaystyle 1-\pi \approx 2s/\sigma ^{2}} {\displaystyle 1-\pi \approx 2s/\sigma ^{2}}

This is the first appearance of \sigma in the article. Its meaning is not explained. Fixation of mutant genes was used before Kimura wasn't it?[edit]

A quick search in google scholar gives results from before 1954 discussing genes using the term fixation. Sewall wright for example already use mutant gene fixation. Mirad1000 (talk) 17:09, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
