Lede edit[edit]

I'm removing a line from the lead I find contentious and non-WP:NPOV. "There is widespread public confusion about this point, and the retailer has done little to dispel the mix-up." As shown here[1], this company and it's predecessors have sold clothing under the F&S name for over 100 years. While I have no doubt Dick's is happy with the "mix-up," it is not appropriate for us to use WP's voice to imply they are fermenting the confusion. Surely if you asked Dick's to comment on this directly, they would say they are continuing the operation of Gordon & Ferguson (note the 1871 date in their logo) and not piggy backing on the magazine (founded in 1895) ghost 23:51, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
