NPOV complaint[edit]

"Thriving business district" is neither NPOV nor true. Sorry. 70.90.143.153 (talk) 07:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While this statement may have been true in 2008, isn't now [2011]. Downtown is a busy place, as evidenced by all the people overflowing from bars and eateries and theaters onto Woodward Ave or 9 Mile Rd on given evenings. Many businesses are mainstays (Como's, The Magic Bag, Nami Sushi). If you were to include the surrounding area — roughly bounded by Hilton, Livernois, Woodward Hts, and Marshall — there's more than enough to merit the word "thriving". That said, I'll look over the article for NPOV and cleanup before I remove the tags. — VoxLuna  orbitland   22:45, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

=== Just an FYI, while Nami Sushi is now closed (and is now a very interesting and beautiful speakeasy-style pub called The Oakland), two other sushi places (Sakana and Inyo) have opened in the last 2 years and have remained open. Not to mention the Rust Belt market, and many other bars and nightclubs. Hey, I could go on continuing to advertise, but if you get down to Ferndale on a nice weekend sometime, you will see that it is thriving. 67.149.95.69 (talk) 23:42, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re-write[edit]

Does anyone else think this article reads like a giant brochure trying to get people to visit or move to Ferndale? To me, it looks like it was written by a member of the city government. I propose a re-write that omits positive aspects. Wiki articles are to remain neutral, simply giving the facts, not praising the subject left and right (nor bashing, for that matter). Thoughts? hsxeric (talk) 21:41, 03 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would be interested in reading how the city became a gay community, with the exodus from Detroit and more particularly the Palmer Park area. 96.27.38.63 (talk) 00:57, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nicknames?[edit]

Seriously the website is a nickname?

What about "Ferntucky" I remember residence telling me about that one due to the red neck population. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.185.6.18 (talk) 20:33, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, agreed. Not sure why that was there, but I've moved the link to the External links section. Thanks for pointing it out. Unforgiven24 (talk) 21:09, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ferndale is legitimate. It's Hazelpark that is "Hazel-tucky". Oh, but so lovingly so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacob134 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

EFFIGY STUDIOS[edit]

Sorry to report this, but according to the Michigan Business Lookup website. Eminem is NOT the owner of Effigy Studios. A Thomas W. Johnson is listed as the owner.

See here.

Thinkingamericanist (talk) 18:11, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no. Thomas Johnson is listed on the referenced documents as the agent, not the owner. But I don't think even if he is the owner of a business in the city merits his inclusion on the list of notable people. If that were the case, the Walton family could be listed as notable people in almost every settlement of size in the whole country. John from Idegon (talk) 18:48, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
