Flag Question[edit]

Should the flag of the Fengtian Clique be included in this article? It was mentioned in this article. --68.175.142.78 (talk) 00:41, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's not the flag of the Fengtian clique. Such a flag was never used by the warlords (they mostly used the five races flag), and it would be weird to do so, seeing as it was never controlled or based on the Manchu ethnicity (which is represented by the yellow in the five color flag). I had a running theory that someone put it on this article originally due to it being the flag of Yoshiko Kawashima's Anguojun, which is different from the Fengtian-led Anguojun. It seems that the Commons page of the flag confirms that it's the flag of a puppet state of Japan. Roniiustalk to me 06:21, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welp that solves my question on why it was not included in this article. Though, why did it say it was the flag of the Fengtian clique on the article I linked to? --68.175.142.78 (talk) 19:49, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's because for a while, this article had that flag for some reason. A few different language wikis still mistakenly use it. Roniiustalk to me 02:05, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing?[edit]

@Roniius Here's what I found, comparing your text to the cited Brill text:

Your text: Zhang exploited anti-tax protests to strengthen his local civil authority and his position to the Central Government. In 1916, Yuan Jingkai discussed with Zhang to expel Duan Zhigui.

Source text: Zhang was able to manipulate the anti-tax protests to strengthen his position vis-à-vis the central government as well as the local civil authority. Yuan Jinkai, who had considerable influence in the provincial assembly of Fengtian, discussed with Zhang to expel Duan Zhigui in 1916.

Comparing the text the other parts of the article, I found nothing else for concern. Even then I think this sentence just needs a little rephrasing, not too much. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 06:16, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
