I am a little confused about the "Made in Japan" and "Crafted in Japan" distinction; consensus seems to be that these denote different periods and different factories, but I own two of the same model of Japanese Fender -- J Mascis Jazzmaster (Purple Sparkle) -- and one is "Crafted in Japan," while the other is "Made in Japan." Was there another factory change about which this article lacks details, or has this distinction taken-on a new meaning? Both guitars were manufactured after 2008, so the information in this article seems to not apply to either these guitars, which denotes the significance as being a mid/late-90's transition. They are both genuine Fender guitars. 71.218.130.16 (talk) 19:29, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    • Yes this wiki needs updating, I recently bought a Kurt Cobain Mustang which has the "Made in Japan" denotation upon the back of the neck and also an incorrect serial number which if checked claims it was made in 1995-1996, which clearly it wasn't as this model only started production about four years ago which suggests Fender Japan are reusing old serial numbers on these guitars. If someone can clarify what the current situation maybe with Fender Japan it would be most welcome.86.5.134.132 (talk) 21:42, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have a new Fender Bass VI from 2014 and on the back of the neck it says "Made In Japan". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.178.40.254 (talk) 21:32, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The timeline on this thing is indeed totally messed up, there are Fujigen made Fenders labeled "Made in Japan" from way after this article claims should be the case, I'm looking at a Fujigen PB57 from 1989-1990 right now with J00xxxx serial #. The info needs fixing by somebody who knows for sure. Nevermind, I misread the article. Status4 (talk) 21:10, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
