his gender[edit]

So you don't know whether he's still alive, but you know he's had a sex change and is now a women?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Buffalo mozzarella (talkcontribs) 22:26, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Buffalo mozzarella: I created this page, but didn't add that piece of information. When I first saw it, I was quite surprised, since Gil would be over one hundred years old now, and I assumed that he was probably dead. But when I did a Google search, some Mexican news articles appeared from last year confirming that a Mexican composer by the name Felipe Gil had received a sex change recently. I'm not 100% sure that it's the same person, since the news articles seem to be saying that Gil was 74 at the time (which wouldn't match up with the age provided by Dave Smith at Disney). In fact, Lilongo, Gil's most famous song, was written about seventy years ago, so the dates just don't match up at all. I don't know Spanish, so I can't really confirm anything, and I don't have the time to look into this further. So perhaps we should air on the side of caution and just remove the information. If somebody who knows the full story wants to re-add it and can prove it to be true, then that would be fine. --Jpcase (talk) 18:23, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
