ATR-42[edit]

I know for a fact that FedEx operates way more than just 2 ATR-42s. This is wrong. I will try to find out the correct number and correct it.

Hubs[edit]

I know for a fact that Latin America does not exclusively use Miami International Airport for shippings being made to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay. I have been working with FedEx for several years, and have personally received hundreds of packages, and not one single time (I live in Brazil) has a package passed through Miami. In the case of packages being sent to Brazil, all of them are sent via Memphis to Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport.

I edited the main article yesterday, but someone edited it back to its original text, where it states that all packages sent to South America go through Miami International Airport. This is wrong, and if it is needed I can provide proofs in form of trackingnumbers (AWB#) to prove that the packages do not go through Miami Int Airport, but through Memphis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.7.111.50 (talk) 03:26, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Information has to be sourced, FedEx lists their hubs on their website: http://news.van.fedex.com/fedexexpress. Packages can go directly from Memphis to just about everywhere in the world, just because a plane flys directly from Memphis to Brazil does not mean that it is their hub. MEM and EWR also have direct flghts to places in Europe but that does not make them a hub, flights can orginate aand terminate from non hub locations. Please provide a source or the article has to be what FedEx and the sources claim. Tracking numbers are not always scaned and packages can be routed a diffrent day depending on what FedEx does. Services[edit]

Is this list anywhere near complete?? I know for a fact that Fedex has mainline flights to Portland Maine, Manchester New Hampshire, Allentown PA...and many others. I've physically seen their 727s and Airbii at the airports I listed, so I'm assuming that they fly to many other destinations which I have not been to... That doesn't even take into account the feederliner services operated by Wiggins Airways and their equivilants throughout the United States on Cessnas Shorts 360s. Unless someone comes up with either a better definition of that list, or a better list altogether, I will remove that content. (On an afterthough, how does that list even make sense? I was just editing and included a "citation needed" tag for that section. There certainly are airport left out of the list, even those that were active as of the date cited. The FedEx website doesn't list the airports it serves outside of their domestic and international hubs. I'm in favor of deleting the entire section.--Imagineertobe 07:29, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This information should be removed since there is too many service area to list for FedEx Express.

I was just about to say that Fed Ex Express and all other cargo airlines need a list of " " destinations, like 99 percent of passenger airlines with an article here have. I am planning a trip to Brazil in 2016 and need to know if Fed Ex flies to Rio so I can send the "extra baggage" back to the states without incurring in airline cargo penalties or whatever it is they call it these days...:) and also no customs stuff at the Rio airport, :) :) :)!! From what I can tell, FedEx Express does not serve Rio de Janeiro directly from the US. They do however, have a direct flight from Memphis to Sao Paulo, I can't search any flight outside of the US so they may have a connecting flight to Rio or they may contract with another airline to fly the cargo for them to Rio...Either way, your bag will get there. However, it would likly be a LOT cheaper just to pay the airline the extra fee rather than paying FX $100s to fly your bag.
The reason why there is no destination list is because there is no offical list published of FX destinations. If a list was created on this page, it would be vastly incorrect and incomplete. Spikydan1 (talk) 15:30, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of Nascar Sponsorship[edit]

I don't think this belongs. I reworked it, but it still reads like a Nascar article in an article about a Cargo airline, talking about place finished and blah blah. I think that both articles should remain seperate. You can move sections or parts that belong to the airline to FedEx Express...FedEx is the parent company and should have its own article. FedEx is also more than just express shipping (FedEx Kinkos, freight, ground, etc and more of those services should be listed on FedEx. Both articles need a major overhall and I have been doing that with FedEx Express but they still need a lot of work. Spikydan1 01:28, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
I should also add that they started off the same company (Federal Express) but over the years they have grown more and more apart. Oppose. It makes no sense to merge the article about a parent corporate entity into the article about one of its subsidiaries. That would effectively "orphan" articles about the other subsidiaries. Roger (talk) 08:27, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If they remain separate, they need some work, particularly in the history sections. There is a lot of overlap there. It is fine if some of the history overlaps because they started out as one, you can take a look at this for more info: http://about.fedex.designcdt.com/our_company/company_information/fedex_history . It states that FDX Corp (Now FedEx Corp.) was created in 1998 because they aqcuired a trucking company (Caliber) and then had more than just express shipping. The company had major change in 2000 when they created "FedEx Corp." and broke the company down into smaller units (FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, FedEx Custom Critical, ect). Fedex keeps empty planes?[edit]

I am wondering what the source for this statement is: "To be able to respond quickly to demand, FedEx Express tends to keep a number of empty planes in the air to respond quickly to changing freight demands." Fourth paragragh down: "Every night, FedEx keeps a number of empty planes up in the air, to better respond to requests at a moment's notice." I don't beleave it either but it is properly soruced...To my knowledge FedEx flies some long sweeping routes with an aircraft that is mostly empty and they respond to a city that needs extra capcity for that night...But I have no source for that besides myself and that would be WP:OR. Largest Airline?[edit]

The lead of this article claims that Fed Ex Express is the largest airline by number of freight miles and number of planes in the fleet. According to the List of largest airlines that is linked, however, the second fact is not correct. FedEx appears to be second after Delta. is there something I'm not reading correctly here? either way i think this should be changed. That page is wrong, the Delta number includes Northwest's fleet...Until they combind operations (They are operating as two diffrent airlines right now) FedEx Express is still the largest airline by fleet size. Spikydan1 (talk) 19:16, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The linked article now says that, as of March 2011, Delta, United and Lufthansa all have larger fleets than Fed Ex. If orders are included, Southwest also comes higher, making the Fed Ex fleet arguably either the 4th or 5th-largest in the world massive_hair 17:00, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Exiting Service of the B727[edit]

"Kamikaze attack"[edit]

The list of incidents and accidents includes a claim that Auburn Calloway intended to crash Federal Express Flight 705 into FedEx headquarters. The article on flight 705 does not include this claim, nor is there another source provided that would corroborate it. Sorting Facilities commented out[edit]

I have just edited that section to comment it out entirely because it appears to be largely incorrect. An article I cited with my edit indicates the Memphis facility is 5.6 million square feet not 15 million square feet. My own check with Google Earth showed major errors with the sizes of both Indianapolis and Newark. The source cited did not appear to have any authoritative information. FedEx does not list the facility sizes however there might be information elsewhere that is correct and I will research that further.
