Fazil Say's Biography - Copyright Concerns[edit]

Hello. My name is Angela Holden and I own the fan website FazilSayFan.com. Fazil Say has given me permission to use the Biography from his Official Website and I have licensed it under a Creative Commons by Share Alike [1] attribution. I have added footnotes to each paragraph of the Biography which all refer back to FazilSayFan.com. I respectfully request that you verify the CCbySA on my site and remove the Warning from this page.

Regards, Angelainmpls (talk) 02:36, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done I am not a license specialist. I just noticed the copy/paste from official site and put a warning for this. I removed it but maybe this text should be turned into a more encyclopedic and neutral way... Terfilo (talk) 03:46, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers Terfilo! Thank you for your help. I will work with Mr. Say to update the narrative.

For clarity about the source of the text, and to comply with the WP:BLPSPS policy, which prohibits the use of self-published sources such as "fazilsayfan.com" in biographies of living persons unless they are written by the subject, I've changed the citation to point to Say's official website, from where the text was originally copied. I'm concerned about the use of this text for the article, as neither Angela Holden's fansite, nor Fazil Say's self-published official website, is an independent, secondary, reliable source, as is required. There are significant issues with conflict of interest, promotion, and verifiability, see also WP:BLPSELFPUB. I've tagged it as needing third-party sources. Even if the licencing is not a problem, I think it is entirely inappropriate to effectively allow Fazil Say to write the biography section of his own Wikipedia article, using himself as the only source. This would never be allowed under normal circumstances, and I think this text should be removed from the article. --IamNotU (talk) 03:16, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blasphemous tweets[edit]

Does anyone have the exact text of the tweets he was sentanced to prison for?Litch (talk) 23:21, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gulf News (referenced in the article) gives, “I am not sure if you have also realised it, but all the...low-lives, buffoons, thieves, jesters, they are all Allahists.” Searching for a few consecutive words from that turns up another source: [2] which was a quote of 11th century poet Omar Khayyam, "You say rivers of wine flow in heaven, is heaven a tavern to you? You say two huris [companions] await each believer there, is heaven a brothel to you?". Search for those two together, and you find this other one, “The muezzin finished the evening prayers in 22 seconds … Why are you in such hurry? A lover? A raki table?” [3]. That last source says there were "more than half a dozen" offensive tweets. -- ke4roh (talk) 00:45, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

External link commented out[edit]

Dear all,

I commented out the second line of external links, because it pointed to a Chinese language porn site. Can somebody provide a real URL pointing to the intended target? Eugenek1 (talk) 17:20, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Eugenek1[reply]

Added two external links and removed one[edit]

I added Fazil Say twitter page and Warner Classics profile page to external links session. I removed a no-longer-working link from this session. Please review. RoseParade LJ (talk) 17:29, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
