What constitutes a Notable Alumni[edit]

Per school article guidelines (WP:WPSCH/AG, and WP:LISTPEOPLE, notable people sections should only include listing of people with established notability. They are not for the inclusion of every or even several people who have had accomplishments from the school. Notability is established by coverage in reliable independent sources. Listpeople requires that you show enough notability for someone to be put into a list like this to create a Wikipedia article on them, with some very narrow exceptions. The simplest standard to use is "Do they have an existing Wikipedia article?" They still can be included without that, but you have to have sourcing completely independent of the subject that covers them in detail and shows that they are connected to the school. Please note that notability is never inherited from your family or who you have associated with. On point for this article, that means that just because you were in the Rough Riders or you played in a famous band does not automatically make you notable. You have to have referencing showing the individual did some things notable and more importantly, that others have written about it. Wikipedia is a tertiary source like all encyclopedias and should only cover what others are writing about in reliable sources (WP:RS). Gtwfan52 (talk) 17:42, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
