Merge proposal[edit]

In January 2015, User:TakuyaMurata proposed a merge of second covariant derivative into this article, but did not provide a reason. As it currently stands, such a merge would be hard, because that article uses a very different notation than this article. In particular, its not really frames in terms of PFB's and associated bundles, the way this article is. Also, I'm wondering if that that article really kind-of wants to be an article about jets, rather than "second derivatives" per se. Seems odd. So a merge at this time would not be easy. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 19:48, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is true that the two articles use the different notations (and so the merger requires a fair amount of work), but that's sort of the point: both the article discuss the square of exterior covariant derivative (D here and lambda there) in detail. It would be useful for the readers to see how the two calculations are related. Also, currently, the article second covariant derivative feels a bit isolated; is the topic notable enough for its own article? The materials there are good so it makes sense to merge it with some other articles. -- Taku (talk) 20:56, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Closing the stale merge proposal from Jan 2015, but added a see also to maintain the link, given the arguments for their close association. Klbrain (talk) 10:09, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
