Source for name of Europe?[edit]

The article states that this river is the source of the name for the continent (Europe) as well. However, this appears unreferenced and other sources do not seem to support this.Jeroenm (talk) 21:29, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"The name of the continent Europe stems from the one of the river."
I for one have to admire this interesting speculation. I have made many such in my lifetime. I suppose we all have as these possible connections dawn on us suddenly like light bulbs. Moreover, they seem to resist critical examination. Early classics was dominated for quite a while by such speculations. But over the decades and centuries the classicists refined their thinking. Thank you editor, for you speculation. Jeroenm however is quite right, it cannot stand. We have to resist the impulse to put these things in. WP wants only the material that has been through the reality testing process and can be supported. That does not mean most of WP is not speculation. It only means you need published speculations.Dave (talk) 10:22, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Map of the Eurotas[edit]

Is there any good reason why this map is not embedded in the article?
