Inadequate/unclear explanation for reason why this station was not built to connect to Euston.[edit]

I expected to find an explanation for the reason why this station was not built to connect to Euston, but it is not at all clear. It seems to be saying that the Met was trying to raise funds for another station beside Euston. But why didn't they build it there in the first place? They would surely have expected to capture traffic from the mainline. I realise that the tube line companies then were competitors who did each other no favours but the text is really unclear. It would be nice to know why we have to climb the escalator, go out in the rain for ten minutes, then down the steps. Could someone improve, please? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:42, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
