استهبان يا اصهطهبانات شهري در نزديكي شهرستان هاي ني ريز و فسا قرار دارد كه داراي سابقه تاريخي زيادي مي‌باشد كه در زمان حكومت هخامنشيان زماني كه سردمداران حكومتي جهت تفريح و تفرج به سمت شربت خانه فارس (كه امروزه ني ريز خوانده مي شود ) حركت مي‌كردند چون اسبان و ماديان آنها مسافت زيادي را طي مي كرند اسبان خود را در استهبان امروزي يا (استبل حيوانات) به تيمارداران مي سپردند و خود با اسبان مخصوصي به ني ريز يا شربت خانه رهسپار مي شدند. و با گذشت ساليان و تغيير حكومت هخامنشيان كم كم افرادي كه در آن منطقه كارهاي حفظ و نگهداري اسبان را داشتند در همانجا سكونت اختيار كردند و با گذشت زمان نام استبل حيوانات با استهبانات و سپس به استهبان تغيير يافت
