Unclear usage of <ï> in reconstructions of Proto-Eskimo-Uralic from Fortescue (2011)[edit]

I've been reading this page for a while now and can't help but notice that the use of <ï> in the table of reconstructed words for Proto-Eskimo Uralic (section 5, Proto-Language) is ambiguous as to what its phonetic value is. Could somebody please add a note or something for what <ï> represents here? I have no access to Fortescue's paper (I'm a little broke, lol) so I don't know what it could be. Is this some sort of shorthand for capital ʌ from his paper referenced? Thanks, Chmess (talk) 06:41, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
