We had the same problem in German WP, there were 3 articles ("Echter Mehltau", which means "powdery mildews"; "Erysiphales"; "Erysiphaceae") treating the same species (since Erysiphales consists of only one single family, named Erysiphaceae). We decided to preserve "Echter Mehltau", transforming "Erysiphales" and "Erysiphaceae" into redirects and expanding the taxbox to family level. 80.139.191.205 01:00, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No need to merge[edit]

I see no need to merge the articles of Erysiphales and Powdery mildew! The first one is a biological order and the other one is a disease caused by species belonging to that order. There are also separate articles for common cold and rhinoviruses for the same reason.

I suggest rather merging the separate articles for Erysiphales and Erysiphaceae, as they are essentially the same thing. Kaarel 20:27, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To make myself more clear - the powdery mildew is a phytopathological syndrome (a condition of the plant), as the Erysiphales are a bunch of fungus species, many of whitch cause that syndrome during some part of their life cycle (the causative agent) Kaarel 03:12, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
