Section "Playing style"[edit]

The "Playing Style" section references an AllMusic bio, but the last 3 paragraphs read like original research, or text copied directly from another site. Please rewrite with reliable sources and provide inline citations. Thanks! -- David Spalding (☎ ✉ ✍) 20:25, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Granted this section is not supported by citations, and I suppose it could be called "original research", although it is more observation than research and does not reflect a personal point of view. As a musician myself, I was trying to explain some technical aspects of Garner's sound that make it unique, that a non-musician might not be aware of or be able to articulate. There is nothing really controversial about it and I doubt that I am the first to describe these mechanical aspects of Garner's playing. If someone translated a phrase from Chinese to English without citations, would that constitute original research? Main photo[edit]

Was the main photo really taken in 1947? If so, that would imply that Garner is ~24 in the photo, which seems quite surprising. Is there a source to back up that date? SiliconRed (talk) 17:20, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Bowman[edit]

Section Piano career begins

Garner began playing piano at the age of three. His elder siblings were taught piano by Miss Bowman. From an early age, Erroll would sit down and play anything she had demonstrated, just like Miss Bowman, his eldest sister Martha said.

Piano teacher "Miss Bowman" must have had a first name. Its absence here is a bit confusing, but I suppose that that's what the family called her, and that her first name isn't found anywhere in the family records.
