Eritrea[edit]

Just wondering if Enkutatash is also observed in Eritrea. If so then this bears mentioning in the article. For that matter, does Eritrea use the same calendar as Ethiopia? -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:39, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Officially Eritrea uses the Gregorian calendar. The only organization in Eritrea that uses this ancient calendar is the Eritrean Orthodox Church. We call this particular holiday Kudus Yohannes (in Tigrinya anyway) and it is a holiday in which Government offices are closed (just as they are for Eid). --Merhawie 21:21, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amharic spelling needed[edit]

ዕንቁጣጣሽ was there at some earlier point, but has been commented out. I've un-hidden it. It's actually the Ge'ez spelling, though I'm not sure it is "Enkutatash" in other Ethiopian languages. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:41, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology[edit]
