Comments[edit]

The river and the dam are a unity: merge them for encyclopedic treatment. --Wetman 09:31, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They needs separate articles. There was no consensus to merge. Beagel (talk) 11:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Abkhaz name of the river[edit]

Abkhaz name of this river is Egry {Егры). Ingur {Ингур} is a Russian pre-stalinism spelling, and official Abkhaz name of the river for non-abkhaz languages —Preceding unsigned comment added by Segnor Bugatti (talkcontribs) 17:12, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inguri RiverEnguri River – If we use name that comes from Georgian language then let's use it correctly. g. balaxaZe 16:46, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support we should not be using Russian for places that have declared indepedence from the Soviet Union. They are not longer part of the USSR -- 70.51.46.195 (talk) 05:52, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support but not on grounds offered. Local language & source is irrelevant; English routinely mauls foreign words, uses incorrect place attributions, simultaneously uses clashing systems for Romanizing non-Latin scripts, and so on. Kiev is perhaps the most famous example; the well-known name in English is the Russian version, not Ukrainian Kyiv. ANYWAY, I do support a move, but mostly because Google searches for "Enguri River" -wikipedia seem to offer better & higher-quality results than "Inguri River" -wikipedia. Google Maps also only seems to recognize Enguri River, so article should be moved there because it's more prevalent in English usage. SnowFire (talk) 19:58, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
