Untitled[edit]

This is in no way the second railroad in the U.S. - see Oldest railroads in North America. I believe the Niagara Portage one would be west of the Appalachians, so it wasn't the first there either. --SPUI (T - C) 18:37, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I made a starter article at Pontchartrain Rail-Road (which needs expansion, as it was rather important for the city and region). The "second oldest" claim has seen its way into print and the web, eg [1]. It's good to sort out the local boosterism claimes from the facts. Champs-Élysées[edit]

i'm pretty sure the original name was in French, as "Champs-Élysées" (Elysian Fields is the English translation) when New Orleans was still named Nouvelle-Orléans (it was before French language was forbidden in French colonies -Cajun-). can anyone confirm or infirm this?
