As a reader, I do wish this wouldn't happen. The history appears to be that some years ago User:Bodnotbod created a page for the Pygmalion character (which User:Nick Cooper stated in 2010 was "overwhelmingly the more well-known usage"). Various articles linked to that page, such as Claire Danes and Julie Andrews.

This page was then "hijacked" (or "usurped") for the singer, and then deleted (along with the history of the original content):

12:39, 28 June 2009 Ged UK (talk | contribs) deleted "Eliza Doolittle" ‎ (A7: Article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)

It then became necessary to create a disambiguation page, as Nick Cooper did - which also has the advantage of instantly showing the relationship between two meanings. If the redirect is to the real person, rather than the character, obviously the Claire Danes and Julie Andrews become very misleading because neither played Eliza Doolittle the historical person and singer. Links to the disambiguation page aren't perfect, but are not entirely misleading and easier to clean up through the disambiguation project.

There should really be an article for the character - it would help to recover this from the deletion log.

Eliza Doolittle was from Lisson Grove, as was her accent, so I don't think she should be called 'cockney', which implies the east end (far from Lisson Grove).
