The German-language Wikipedia has an excellent article about Elias Canetti. It looks large, so we could merge paragraphs from there gradually. --Cameltrader 06:41, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i add to the last comment that the German "Masse und Macht" site has a section of comparison with Le Bon and Freud: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masse_und_Macht#Canetti_in_Abgrenzung_zu_Le_Bon_und_Freud Laur

I really hate when I see this stupid phrase "mother tongue". It has to be "native language". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.25.12.3 (talk) 16:19, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CanettiElias.jpg[edit]

Image:CanettiElias.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

He wrote in German, thus he was a German writer[edit]

Category:German writers applies here, as it does for Franz Kafka, another East European who became famous for writing in German rather than a Slavic language. Citizenship should not be confused with language. -- Matthead  Discuß   02:07, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pity the above comment led to no changes. The introductory sentence makes a big fuss about supposed later nationalities without stating the first fact the reader needs to know about Canetti--and the reason there's an article about him--which is that he was a German writer. I'll fix. Right now there's no support or citation at all for the claim of Swiss citizenship. If that's verifiable it can be restored.WebHorizon (talk) 20:54, 12 August 2014 (UTC)WebHorizon[reply]

Calendar[edit]

He was born in Bulgaria in 1905. Bulgaria used the Julian calendar at that time, not switching to the Gregorian till 1916. Is there any info about whether 25 July 1905 was a date in the Julian calendar (which would be equivalent to 7 August 1905 Gregorian), or whether it's been converted to the Gregorian from, I presume, 12 July 1905 (Julian)? -- JackofOz (talk) 06:45, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo request[edit]

Elias Canetti photo is needed.

Party im Blitz and subsequent controversy[edit]

Party im Blitz has led to such controversy in English language commentators as surely merits mention, especially as relates to his first marriage to a woman who was not merely a writer, and his later view of Iris Murdoch, whom for the English is not merely a philosopher.
