Parallels?[edit]

I think it would really help spruce up (pardon the pun) this article for someone to enumerate the parallels with motifs in other folk tales, elaborate on the other Baltic mythologies referenced, and share some of the results of the research by Indo-European mythology scholars. Tasks?[edit]

Eglė is required to fulfill three impossible tasks

Any word on what the tasks are, or are they left unspecified? Even if they vary from version to version, it would be nice to see what sort of tasks were given. The more details the better on this sort of thing, because I would wager most people on the English Wikipedia are unfamiliar with the tale. It's a legend, not a book/movie/show, so we can be less worried about "spoiling" the tale. -- 22:25, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Kryžiokų lake ?[edit]

I always thought they lived in the Green Lakes (Kryžiokų lake, specifically), not the sea. At least that's what I've heard. Is it wrong ? --Lysy^talk 12:19, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At first, as we deal with the fairy tale here, the plot of it, as a rule, is greatly varying between the versions. So the only choice is to take the most widely accepted version and to produce a consistent plot.

I do not completely reject the possibility of Kryžiokai, but that is only a version, and not a very popular one. Iulius 13:53, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's a tale, and details depend on who is telling it. There are over 45 written versions of it, and I never heard about Kryziokai. Renata 13:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
