Additional citations needed[edit]

I've added a tag at the top of the page to hopefully encourage people to add more citations to improve the verifiability of the information on the page. As a native Edmundston resident, most of the information seems to be correct of my knowledge, but it would be great for some sections to source some of the information from reliable sources. Examples of sections that would need more sources include: "Demographics", some parts of "Economy", "Arts and Culture", "Attractions", "Sports", and "Media". (This basically means most sections would benefit from more citations). AideTech (talk) 18:57, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People from Edmundston[edit]

I'm sorry, but just because Sonia Toussaint moved to California and made a cheap amateur adult video that doesn't make her a celebrity. Besides the people living in Edmundston and the people she has worked with in California, who else knows this person as an adult film star?

If her career results in magazine layouts and into adult movies of bigger quality, then she will be considered a celebrity.

The same goes with someone named Jacques Savoie, who considers himself a notable native, but who the heck is he?

Rule of thumb: If you Google the name of a person and you can't find anything about them (other than maybe a Faceook page), they are not considered a "notable Edmundston native".

Proposal to rename page[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was move.

Edmundston (and alt spelling Edmunston) currently redirects to Edmundston, New Brunswick. There is no Edmundston (disambiguation) page; other uses of Edmundston in page names are either secondary to the community or used in composite names (Roman Catholic Diocese of Edmundston was the only other article appearing on Wikipedia search). Similar but distinct spelling of Edmonston, Maryland already taken care of by a hatnote, as could be Phil Edmonston. As the place name is evidently unique and primary, it is proposed to simplify the page name per WP:CANSTYLE and WP:PRIMARYUSAGE. Dl2000 (talk) 19:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

meaning of motto[edit]

What does "six-star city" refer to? -- AnonMoos (talk) 18:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. As a native and resident of Edmundston, I've always wondered what that referred to. I will try researching its meaning. User:Dybabdulwadud D. Y. B. (Abdul Wadud) 11:21, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently, Edmundston is named thusly in reference to six ethnic groups from which the city's demographics originate. User:Dybabdulwadud D. Y. B. (Abdul Wadud) 01:24, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fun fact: the six stars are also visible on the Madawaska Flag AideTech (talk) 05:26, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
