Date and place of birth[edit]

An IP editor has changed the date and place of birth to "Llandecwyn, near Harlech in Gwynedd in 1541 [1] (or possibly in Llanrwst, Denbighshire in 1544)". It is good to add sourced facts, but I don't think this is accurate.

The ODNB says 1542/3 and "Long thought to have been a native of Merioneth, he is now known to have hailed from Llanrwst, Denbighshire".[2] The Dictionary of Welsh Biography says "Born in 1544 but there is no certainty as to the place of his birth although it was possibly Y Gydros, in the parish of Llanfor, Mer." [3] The modern memorial in St John's College Chapel Cambridge has 1541.

I think the best source is the ODNB, which is up-to-date, has a solid reputation and is confident of the place of birth. I will change the article accordingly. Verbcatcher (talk) 22:31, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
