iTunes store reference has been used

Lego house has been referenced with the iTunes Store link. Is this okay as per Wikipedia guidelines? Also there are iTunes chart information given, doesn't Wikipedia: Record charts state that single-vendor charts cannot demonstrate notability through charting also online retailers such as iTunes and Amazon.com should be avoided. It can be seen as inappropriate to directly link to a site where one can purchase the subject in question. Wikipedia's role should not be used to advance the sale of an album nor to promote one retailer over another. This should be clarified--Tashiya Jayatilaka (talk) 18:13, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Missing source for new claim?

This article claims that Sheeran said, in an interview, that he would be putting out 2 new albums (= and -) in the next 18 months, but does not provide a source. I haven't been able to find the source with some google searches. Maybe worth checking out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Foraged porridge (talkcontribs) 01:09, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

I've reverted that claim, Foraged porridge: while probably true, I cannot find any reliable sources that state that Sheeran said so and it is probable original research. Thanks for pointing this out. Sdrqaz (talk) 02:13, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Please include in the associated artists line, that Ed Sheeran was temporarily a member of the Horne Section during the episode that aired on the 2nd July 2021. And therefore Alex Horne and the Horne Section is an associated artist. Benjrokeefe (talk) 22:21, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

The Album Name is Not Speculated 'Minus' - Debunked by Sheeran

In section 2.6, "Upcoming fifth studio album" it is noted that the fifth album is speculated to be called 'Minus'. While there IS speculation that the icon is the subtraction sign, Sheeran himself confirmed that the title of the album is NOT 'minus'. Source is here: [1] (check time 6:15) (Ryan Seacrest interview). It is requested that the statement is retracted or swapped with 'Subtract' and 'Takeaway', as those two alternative titles are the truly speculated names for the album.

Plooten (talk) 15:32, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Errm, we don't tend to include any speculation, even if it's "true speculation"? Sorry to be so negative. lol Martinevans123 (talk) 15:37, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
That's fine, but right now there's speculation on the article with it stating "...with some suggesting the album could be titled - (pronounced "minus"), however nothing is confirmed." Which is debunked with the source I've given. So if someone could retract that statement, as that's not only speculation but now false speculation lol. While it may be the - symbol, it is not pronounced "minus". Plooten (talk) 15:46, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Done. Um, if one releases a series of albums with titles pronounced "plus", "multiply" and "divide" respectively then, you know, I think one could reasonably expect that kind of speculation? Martinevans123 (talk) 15:57, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
No no, you're 100% right. Not my intentional at all. It will probably be - or =, from what we know from Ed himself from my other comment below. But to put it in context, 'minus', 'subtract', and 'takeaway' have all been speculated ways to pronounce the - album. I'm just saying that the article stated that the speculated - album was pronounced 'minus', which was just debunked recently. It's 100% fair for one to assume it'll be -! Plooten (talk) 16:02, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
On a further note, it should probably be replaced with the notion that it is either - or =, as later in that interview, Sheeran confirms that the next album is on the Ipswich Town Football Club shirts, sourced here: [2]. This indicates that the next album is either - or =, as those are the only two symbols on the shirt that are not already albums. Picture of the shirt for reference is available on the Ipswich Town shop website, here [3]. Plooten (talk) 15:52, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Cool. I'm going to speculate that it's going to be called "TOUR" :) Martinevans123 (talk) 15:59, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Who knows! Technically possible! But, if one releases a series of albums with titles pronounced "plus", "multiply", and "divide" respectively then, you know, I think it is the unlikely candidate. :) Plooten (talk) 16:10, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Haha! Are you sure them tractor boys even know how to use them mathematical symbols?? Martinevans123 (talk) 17:49, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Ah great, seems it's a tribute album, then. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:13, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Collab project

@LaVozSA: Do we consider No.5 and No.6 as collab projects, not studio albums? -- BrandNew Jim Zhang (talk) 14:03, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Well I personally think we should recognise them as separate projects. Even Sheeran himself is calling '÷' his 4th album. LaVozSA (talk) 15:05, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Personally I think Equals is his fourth album. Divide is his third studio album. No.5 Collaborations Project is an EP and No. 6 Collaborations is considered a studio album, but I think the latter should be changed to the first collaboration or compilation album instead. Equals is Sheeran’s fourth album according to himself, and if he says that himself, we should go with that. What about y’all? PopLizard86427 (talk) 15:30, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Wait hold on, I was watching his IG Live about announcing the album and he calls it his fourth solo album. So we can consider No.6 Collaborations Project a studio album and Equals his fourth solo album and fifth overall. Boom. PopLizard86427 (talk) 15:42, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

On the ig post where he announces the album, he refers to the album as "My fourth studio album". To me, this is very clear. No. 6 was simply a collaboration album, similar to Gaga and Tony's "Cheek to Cheek", or Jay-Z and Kanye's "Watch the Throne". "÷" is his third studio album, and "=" is his fourth. Does this not make sense to anyone else? 2601:48:8100:B6A0:9157:B16:D90B:7939 (talk) 16:59, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

According to Ss112, There was an discussion about No.6 Collaborations Project being a studio album or not on its talk page and after the discussion they referred it as a Studio album. So in that case, we will name equals his fifth album because of that discussion. PopLizard86427 (talk) 17:17, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Ok well whether it's a studio album or not, = is being billed as his fourth studio album by Ed himself. Are we really going to disregard what the artist is calling his own work? That's pretty disgusting if you ask me.

I actually just pulled up Ed's announcement of the No. 6 album, and he never refers to it as his fourth album, or even a studio album. On the other hand, he has officially referred to = as his fourth studio album. Regardless of whatever conversation took place on the No. 6 talk page, I believe that given the announcement from Ed today, we should go back and simply change what we had labelled it as. It was very clearly meant to be just a collaboration album to tide fans over until his next official studio album. How anyone doesn't get that is beyond me. 2601:48:8100:B6A0:9157:B16:D90B:7939 (talk) 17:30, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

In addition to all of this, No. 6 has been changed on both Ed's main page and discography page as a collaboration album, not a studio album. Literally the only thing left to change is calling "=" his fourth album, not fifth, as it no longer makes sense to call it his fifth. 2601:48:8100:B6A0:9157:B16:D90B:7939 (talk) 17:32, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

I'm just going to throw out a suggestion, I think we should call ÷ his 4th album (which he does himself) and call No.6 a collaboration album, something like No.6 Collaborations Project is a collaboration album by Ed Sheeran?? I'm not to sure if that would make sense but it is the only solution I can come up with. LaVozSA (talk) 20:20, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

There still seems to be some confusion and reverts back and forth on this. The lead to No.6 Collaborations Project says fourth studio album. The = (album) flips back and forth between it being the fourth and fifth studio album. As does the reference on the +–=÷x Tour article. I've attached a citation to the word "fourth" in the = (album) article citing the Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/CSweHB5iOyZ/) in which Sheeran himself refers to Equals as his fourth studio album. I am assuming Ed Sheeran's verified Instagram account is acceptable as per WP:INSTAGRAM as a viable primary source. However, if you look for third-party sources, it gets murky; the Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/aug/19/ed-sheeran-announces-new-album-equals), Official Charts (https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/ed-sheeran-announces-fifth-studio-album-__33843/) and Rolling Stone (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/ed-sheeran-equals-album-1214127/) all refer to it as his fifth studio album. I guess it comes down to the definition of "studio album". Why does Sheeran himself not consider No.6 Collaborations Project a studio album? Digital Elysium (talk) 12:39, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

I would say that’s because it’s a collaboration album. Sheeran clearly distinguishes between that and his other albums. I believe we can define a collaboration album as an album whose tracks all feature another artist or artists. This is clearly different from studio albums, which are either all solo tracks or mostly solo tracks with some features. Does that not make sense to anyone else? To me, No. 6 Collaborations Project clearly is a separate thing from Add, Multiply, Divide and now Equals. Can we get a consensus on this? 2601:48:8100:B6A0:B435:22AF:C973:92A9 (talk) 21:30, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Singer-songwriter

Not sure what the problem is with the term 'singer-songwriter' - it's a commonly used and understood term for people who largely write, record and perform their own songs. Using "singer and songwriter" is unnecessary. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 22:51, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Due to Ed Sheeran's performance of Irish folk songs like Nancy Mulligan[1], Galway Girl[2], The Parting Glass[3] and Raglan Road[4].  Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The Daily Express is considered generally unreliable, and the other two sources simply mention the artist's supposed attendance at the Academy to lend credibility to their respective subjects. Sheeran could have easily attended the Academy for a week and other artists are hitching their wagon to him. I can't find any other information online about this Academy either, which doesn't help for notability. TGHL ↗ 🍁 19:36, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

The song "Sausage Rolls For Everyone" is worth a mention here as it features Ed Sheehan (along with Elton John) and was one of Sheeran's UK number ones. It is mentioned on John's page so a bit strange that it isn't also mentioned here. 92.15.148.117 (talk) 08:53, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
