Pointless trivia[edit]

Removing the reference to Sonic the Hedgehog as the character Knuckles has absolutley nothing to do with the mythological Echidna.Cobratom 18:41, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm putting the trivia here for reference.

- A story in Argosy, "The Snake Woman," illustrated by John R. Neill, invokes the Echidna legend.

- Echidna was a recurring character in the television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as she is played by Bridget Hoffman. This version of her is shown as a multi-tentacled reptilian creature.

- In Tecmo's recent Rygar: The Legendary Adventure, Echidna appears as a titan who was formerly Cleopatra.

- In Atlus's Shin Megami Tensei series, Echidna occasionally shows up as a demon.

- In Rick Riordan's the Lightning Thief, Echidna sets her son the Chimaera upon the main character in the Gateway Arch.

- Echidna is the name of one of the bosses in Capcom's video game, Devil May Cry 4. She is depicted as having a humanoid form embedded within the mouth of the traditional She-Viper image.

The Echidna's Life[edit]

the Echidna is the "mother of all monsters". well unfortanatly the Echidna didn't give burth to all monsters i know it is probably a figure of speech but they could verify it better.the Echidna was married to Typon and she had a head of a woman and the body of a dragon. it is the mother of many monsters. Orthrus and Echidna[edit]

According to the article on Typhon, "Orthrus, a fearsome two-headed hound. According to Hesiod, he mated with his mother, Echidna, to sire Cerberus, the Nemean Lion, the Lernean Hydra, the Sphinx and the Chimera". I think this should be added to this article for completeness.

no source for the Teumessian Fox[edit]

It seems this article is the main reference on the Internet that Echidna was the mother of the Teumessian Fox and it doesn't even have a source for that claim, the only point in the list of Echidna's offspring which doesn't have any reference. The Teumessian Fox page mentions Echidna as her mother but again without any source. Somebody should add the reference or it should be deleted IMO. That definitely wasn't mentioned in Ovid's 'Metamorphoses' (describes the hunt for the fox without specifying its origins), Hesiod's 'Theogony' (doesn't lists the fox among Echidna offspring and at all) and Pausanias' 'Description of Greece' (briefly describes the hunt and mentions that the fox was sent by Dionysus).217.118.64.49 (talk) 05:34, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
