"This was the 30th highest percentage of African American people in any place in the United States with 1,000 or more residents identifiying themselves as being of African American ancestry[1]."

In census terms, African American is not an ancestry. It is a race. Although that can be debated, if you quote Census statistics, you must use their terminology.

demographics order[edit]

" 4.13% (2,657) White, 88.51% (56,887) Black or African American, 0.39% (248) Native American, 0.72% (465) Asian, 0.06% (38) Pacific Islander, 3.69% (2,370) from other races, and 2.50% (1,605) from two or more races. "
