Confusion about the recession's end[edit]

The following two sentences can be found in the article and seem contrary to each other:

Official end of the recession was established as July 1980.
In July 1983, the official end of the recession was announced as November 1982, with the employment trough occurring in December.

The former is in the '1980' section, while the latter is in 'Recovery'. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding and they have sperate meanings, but even if so, it is likely that some clarification should be made. Thoughts? Buddy23Lee (talk) 04:00, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at how this particular recession is listed in the 'recessions' nav box (as "1980 & 1981-82"), makes it look like this recession may have been two separate but clearly inter-related events? Perhaps that explains the two ending dates? I guess it's just confusing to me because much of the article (and even the title itself) makes it sound like a singular event.
