History of Page[edit]

I created this page on July 14, 2009 by combining former pages for Vandermeulen High School and Earl L. Vandermeulen and then redirecting here. Both prior pages seemed to exist for a few year with varying information. When I created this new page, I got a corenbot notification that the text appeared to be copied in part from some other site, so I decided to go ahead and overhaul and expand the page. --Neighborhoodpalmreader (talk) 13:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Information needed[edit]

Information which should be added is when the high school first opened, if this can be obtained by someone. The Suffolk Historic Newspapers archive ( http://shn.suffolk.lib.ny.us/ ) has a reference from the early 1910s in the Port Jefferson Echo paper, so I assume it is older than that. Wikipedia prefers citation to sources whenever possible (its ok if source is not online, but cite the source if you have one).

Also, I had to make an educuated assumption as to when the school changed names. I based this on finding references that Tony Prochilo took over as principal after Vandermeulen retired, and a reference in a SUNY-Albany alumni mag about Prochilo's passing in 2002 which stated he was principal from 1960-84. I came across the site after reading that Maurice DuBois, the television anchorman, is a graduate of the school. If so, I think he would warrant inclusion under Notable Alumni.Michael V Gold (talk) 17:19, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
