Dunblane Unburied link[edit]

It seems weird to have a link to this conspiracy theory website from the Dunblane page, especially given that the massacre itself is rightly given its own article. It would be more appropriate to link it from that article, if any. I'm removing it.. Dw290 13:43, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Cave to the Dave campaign[edit]

This is not wiki worthy. This was a pupil led campaign based around discrediting a new head-teacher whose new ideas were not approved of by pupils. Whether this campaign was successful or not, it not based around fact or knowledge. I am going to remove it.

Town/City[edit]

Since Dunblane has a cathedral it is officially a city so I feel that it should be noted that that is the case. As such I have changed as many references of the word "town" to "city" as I could find. Dunblane is refered to as a town since it has not received the Queen's authorisation to be a city as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling, et cetera have. Under old Scots law Dunblane would be a city, but some sort of reforms in the last century removed that status. It might be the same reforms which removed Dunblane from being part of Perthshire; I'm not sure. Anyway, I've reverted everything except the River Allan thing, which was a valid edit. The previous comment that Dunblane is "officially a city" is completely wrong. It is only considered a city by some (mainly the locals) because it has a cathedral. Dunblane Hydro Hotel[edit]

I notice a photo of Dunblane Hydro Hotel in the article, but no text referring to it. Given the section it's in, I presume it is a building of historic significance. After creating this section, I will add a couple of citations for a hydropathic establishment at Dunblane. At this stage, the only place I can find to add it is in the history section. However, it is almost certainly one and the same as the Dunblane Hydro Hotel. If so, the text could be amended and shifted to the section where the photo is. Either way, some reference to the Dunblane Hydro Hotel is needed. While the photo enhances the article (nice building), the lack of information about it does not. Town or city[edit]

Just watching the tennis and heard Andrew Castle say he looked at this article and called it a town. I see an ip has since changed it to city. I'm not sure how a settlement with just 7000 odd people could be a city. I live in a town of 60,000 people and it's not a city! Having a cathedral surely does not make it a city? The largest city in Canada is La Tuque, Quebec, named after a mountain that looks like a Tuque. It covers 28,098 km2, almost as large as Lhasa (prefecture-level city). The population is 11,227. United Kingdom Gun Law[edit]

The first line of the firearms control Act enacted following the Dunblane Massacre refers to the United Kingdom not Great Britain as previously stated in the article. 'The Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 was the second of two Acts of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1997 that amended the regulation of firearms within the United Kingdom...'.
