Sequence of the Poirot series[edit]

For information: The next book to be published in the Poirot series was Murder in the Mews but since this volume contains four stories, three of which had been published earlier, I have not counted it in the infobox here. Readers may find the series order given differenly elsewhere. --Sordel 09:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning?[edit]

Shouldn't there be a spoiler warning on the plot summary? Mllefantine 01:34, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's the lede that should not give away the ending. If you go to a section headed 'Plot summmary', you are expecting to overview the whole story. Valetude (talk) 13:45, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Spoiler is not a concept of use in this encyclopedia. Articles discuss the entire book or film or even television program. Much has been settled on this topic from the June 2007 comment to now. See WP:SPOILER for a full discussion. --Prairieplant (talk) 01:03, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plot summary[edit]

Looking through the revisions (I need to get out more) there is a good deal of backwards-and-forwards revising about whether Jacob Tanios is really bullying his wife. It turns out he is not. Poirot says in the last chapter "I realized at once, not that [Bella] feared her husband, but that she disliked him... Here was - not a self-indulgent woman - but a thwarted one. A plain girl, leading a dull existence, unable to attract the men she would like to attract, finally accepting a man she did not care for rather than be left an old maid... Her husband was devoted to her, but she came secretly to dislike him more and more." This point is quite central to the plot, as it's the false impression she creates that makes us suspect Dr. Tanios. 92.1.148.229 (talk) 22:25, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bella Tanios' maiden name?[edit]

What is the maiden name of Bella Tanios? At one point in the book she is referred to as Bella Winter, and at other points her name is given as Bella Biggs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.31.52.137 (talk) 03:54, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rated by another editor as "Start". With a small amount of extra work it would warrant a "B". ==Literary significance & criticism== and ==Awards and nominations== sections would be good. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:51, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bob's real name in the Cast[edit]

If the real name of the dog playing Bob in the TV series is included among the Cast, it would give due credit.

Changes to Television Version[edit]

I somewhat disagree with the list of modifications. Charles is not only a contestant for the water speed record - this is a whole subject added to the book - but a more basically reputable character than Christie's, being an old friend of Hastings'. I do not quite see that the change in Theresa's character is as radical as stated. However, another major alteration, unmentioned, is that instead of Theresa being engaged, the situation is the far less conventional one of Miss Lawson being the character to have a doctor suitor, Dr Grainger, from the book.
