Droopy was a basset hound??[edit]

The official name of him is Droopy Dog; but is most know as simple Droopy...

Only in his first feature.

I seem to remember in either "A Chump Champ" or another cartoon that Droopy was introduced as a poodle.

In "Northwest Hounded Police", a virtual remake of his first short, "Dumb-Hounded", he was Sgt. McPoodle, and you are quite right about him being called "Droopy Poodle" in "The Chump Champ". He doesn't look like any breed but basset hound, however. As for "Senor Droopy", that was a Mexico-set short, and Droopy rhymes with Guadalupe. Just for a gag, that's all that was. Millionaire Droopy's pedigree?[edit]

Concerning the deleted passage by Warriga describing Millionaire Droopy: In the Avery filmography for his book, Tex Avery: King of Cartoons, De Capo Press, 1975, Joe Adamson says that this was a revamp of Wags to Riches for wide-screen RErelease, with Tex's name on it, which is consistent with reissue status, as Avery had already left MGM for Lantz. Furthermore, Joe indicates the same thing was done with the non-series-character short, Ventriloquist Cat, retitled Cat's Meow. Note that both of these shorts are listed in Avery's Wiki filmography. Are you sure about the Academy Award nomination? Adamson didn't mention one for it, but he did for all other Avery 'toons so honored (although these two are covered in a after-note to the film listings, not given entries in and of themselves). The infobox...[edit]

Template:Infobox Film is for films. Singular films. Template: Infobox Film2 is an improper duplicate, and has been listed for deletion. Those are the reasons why I keep removing it. We don't have an infobox for film series. It wouldn't be a bad idea to make an infobox for film series, but I would post such a proposal at Wikipedia: WikiProject Films and get a consensus for what should be included on it first. --FuriousFreddy (talk) 22:25, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was an infobox for the character, just as Wiki has infoboxes for comic book characters. While I see your point, as I see no substantive difference between the two in that regard I'll submit that idea. Oh, yeah, I did find where you did the same to Barney Bear and left that one alone, figuring that if you were doing this in good faith—and you have been, of course—you'd say something here, and waited. This is still not sorted out. The infobox is misused here and has been since 2 December 2008. One unwanted effect of using it is to force the article title into italics, as if it's the title of a film. Surely someone has the wit to either design an infobox for a film character or tweak this one so it doesn't force italics. if not, delete the infobox from this article. Blue Ribbons[edit]

@Kitsunegami: you know, I was just wondering the same thing. I went trawling back through the history, and it turns out they were added without explanation in December 2009. The template page suggests it would've been used for award winners of some kind, but since nothing like that is specified, I'm just going to remove them.—Neil P. Someone needs to go back and remove the links. At some point the individual pages were removed and redirected back to this page. So they serve no purpose other than to waste the reader's time. Droopy was voiced by Seth MacFarlane in Family Guy and Jim Meskimen in Mad, but I don't repeat undo.
