Influences

I read that Dana Carvey claims Meyer's stole the character of Dr Evil from him. One note, searching quickly now, says about this, "It's also to be rumored that Dana's Lorne Michaels impression was stolen by Mike Myers and given to the character Dr. Evil in all the Austin Powers films."

I'm surprised there's nothing here about the lawsuit. Myers took the name and idea of "Dr. Evil" from a character played by legendary costumer Philip Morris. He used to tour and do spook shows in the role. His real son's name was Scott, and his parents were bakers. The lawsuit lasted eight years, with the Austin Powers people finally settling. I don't have the wiki expertise to create a new subsection for the article, but could someone here do it?

Pleasence wasn't in You Only Live Twice

Dr. Evil (played by Mike Myers), is the chief villain of the Austin Powers series of films. He is a parody of James Bond villains, most particularly Donald Pleasence's portrayal of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in the film You Only Live Twice.
Either this should be changed to the name of the guy who played Blofeld in YOLT, or the movie should be changed to Diamonds Are Forever. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.139.108.211 (talk • contribs) .

I think you'll find he was played by Donald Pleasence on the Donald Pleasence page and the You Only Live Twice page. Blofeld was played by Charles Gray in Diamonds are Forever. Ck lostsword|^queta! 17:21, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Translations

Are there any precedents in Wikipedia for such a list of translations of Dr. Evil's name? And unless they offer an interesting cultural translation rather than just a literal translation then I suggest that this section be deleted. Let's face it, there are many more items that could be improved in the article which are more important. Unless someone can come up with a justification for this section I will remove it in a month's time. Barfbagger 23:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

There are translations for the Simpsons character Edna Krabapple, but I think these cite the interesting cultural differences that you're seeking. I was shocked that Santa Claus didn't contain a list (but Father Christmas does). Possibly some of the MXC characters (listed at Takeshi's Castle)? I can't think of many fictional characters (with unusual names) that are internationally known, so that in itself makes the list somewhat significant. I see no harm in keeping the section, but at the same time wouldn't object to your deletion of it. I see what you mean about direct translations. Hoof Hearted 13:46, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Mr. Bush is a fan

According to the Whitehouse Museum:

Obvious Vandalism

Comparing between edits, there has been references to random garbage; obviously vandalism. This was done a while ago and yet is reverted multiple times to this.

• "...Scaramanga, who has a dwarf servant named Nick Nack. PeNis." Nick Nack Penis??? One worded sentences are obviously fake. Vagina. Penis.
• "In the ninth Austin Powers film, Goldmember, Dr. Evil claims..." I'm sure there are only three films, the fourth is still being developed. Goldmember is the third anyway, check on the Austin Powers page.

Will someone please revert this, and any other annoyances. It has been multiple times and the "Ninth Penis" keeps coming back. --Michael SumanIpfreely555 03:26, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Mini-Me contradiction

In the Entourage | Mini-Me section, the article states that "Any comparison to Herve Villechaize's "Nick-Nack" character from The Man with the Golden Gun is merely coincidental". Later on in the Parodies | The James Bond films section it says that "Mini-Me may also be another reference to Scaramanga, who has a dwarf servant named Nick Nack". Fan Page

Most of this article is a fan page. Notice the large sections without citations and the pointless opinions, like whether West Flemish is a dying language. I believe serious editors should go through this an take out the unnecessary parts, which would be at least 50% of the article about this non-person. It might be different if the fictional character was based on a novel, or series of novels (i.e. James Bond or Sherlock Holmes), but it is not.Princetoniac (talk) 00:13, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

Paddy O'Brien was also partly inspired by "Lucky" the "Lucky Charms Leprechaun". ( From the cereal box of the same name.). He even quotes the character, "They're always after me lucky charms!"

Rita The Metermaid is a reference to The Beatles song "Lovely Rita", from the "Sgt.Pepper" album.
