The digital commons as a general concept[edit]

Should there not be an article about the digital commons, being cyberspace in general, and not some project in particular? Yochai Benkler, Lawrence Lessig and others have written about it. it is arguably the most important sociopolitical innovation in the last 300 years, and Wikipedia is a great example of it, so it seems odd to ignore it. Sorry scratch that, I've found it here . With the greatest of respect the digital commons page should direct there, not here. so I have adjusted it.

Should this page be edited?[edit]

I am a newbie editor, and this page showed up to be edited as an easy edit. But I am now not sure if this page should exist, given ElectricRay's comments above. I am also not sure what reads as an advertisement--is it the list of features? What needs to be done on this page? Thank you. LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 12:38, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@LoveElectronicLiterature I've removed the maintenance tags. I think it was fixed by an earlier editor who just forgot to remove them when they were done. The other digital commons article looks like it really needs some work if you're interested, though: Digital commons (economics). -- asilvering (talk) 03:04, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think this page should be removed as it is a duplicate of the other digital commons? How would such a decision be made? I am a newbie editor. LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 14:03, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@LoveElectronicLiterature Can you provide a link to the page you think this is a duplicate of? I think I must be misunderstanding you, since Digital Commons (Elsevier) and Digital commons (economics) are completely different articles. I can explain more then. To answer your question a little bit now, there are three main ways to delete articles, depending on urgency and need for consensus: WP:CSD, WP:PROD, and WP:AFD, in order from "most urgent" to "needs most discussion". As a new editor, you'll probably use WP:AFD more often than the other two. -- asilvering (talk) 02:47, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I do not know enough to make either call or to edit this page. Let's leave this to another volunteer who knows more about this field? I only really know electronic literature. LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 12:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
