American Horror Story Wiki on Wikia[edit]

Here's the thing - I wrote this content on Wikia. It's fairly obvious that I wrote it, given the timestamps as it is written during each commercial break during first broadcast. I write such a plot description every week, and have done so for the last 5 years. More often than not, I look at Wikipedia articles for these episodes and find word for word plagiarism. I know that my content is released under CC-BY-SA, but attribution would be nice every so often. Since Wikipedia policies prevent me actually linking articles to American Horror Story Wiki (because, among other reasons, I am the primary admin there), I am going to add attribution tags when I find this to be the case in accordance with WP:FREECOPYING. If in citing work here that is plagiarized from me elsewhere is in violation of Wikipedia policy, please let me know. Thanks for the notice. Even without knowing about plagiarizing Wikia, I did try to rework some of the plot here to match Wikipedia's more formal tone standards. Perhaps the Guild of Copy Editors can help with further issues. Snuggums (talk / edits) 07:15, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Nice try, but no amount of bowdlerization and grammar manipulation can turn plagiarism into original content. Also note that FischTank only posted here because it is the latest but not the only example. For several years these articles have begun their lives as copy pasta from the American Horror Story Wikia site, and most have changed very little. I second the motion that attribution be given by using one of the available templates.--OGRastamon (talk) 16:29, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the tone change for your standards. I hope that further editors on these (and other Wikipedia articles) understand that no amount of trimming or mutation alters that the original source is plagiarized. I don't mind the use of my work. Unless any creative work is completely rewritten from scratch (which I'm not advocating), it still requires attribution. FischTank (talk) 19:21, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever, coming here won't solve "your problems" with copyright. You should contact an admin. Anyway, from the next episode I'm gonna write the plot so you and your friends from that site called wikia won't need to come here and I won't need to read stuff like this anymore. Goodbye. Oh, I'm sorry. I guess WE'RE the villains here for subjecting a Little Monster to something as mundane as the truth. Just so you know, THIS friend "from that site called wikia" has also been a Wikipedian since before you hit puberty. So I know that there's no need to bring an admin into this conversation unless one or more participants refuses to see reason.
