Why redirect?![edit]

Why redirect? Seriously, somebody tell me. Let's talk. Iluvselenagomez1234 (talk) 00:03, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Because an earlier deletion discussion determined that they were not separately notable from their previous group. That was a number of months back. The key question at this point is whether anything has changed since that previous discussion? C.Fred asks the question below. It's not enough to just use the same sources that were used before. You need to convince us as to why the situation has changed since the earlier debate. Have they had new coverage that was not available then? New reliable sources to show that they are now separately notable from their earlier group? It's that concept of "Separate notability" that is one of the keys here. As long as they are only notable for the actions as part of the previous group, then there is no reason for them to have a separate page from that previous group. And the earlier discussion showed that, at that point in time at least, they were not separately notable.
A previous deletion debate ended in an outcome of "Redirect". That debate outcome remains in-force. You need to show us what is different now from then that would lead to a different result. - TexasAndroid (talk) 14:43, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I wanted to restart a discussion on the Destinee & Paris wiki page. There are new sources that justify them having their own wiki page. The page they are redirected to is a defunct group that no longer exists. They have legally been "Destinee & Paris" for some time now, and are legally signed to Interscope Records as "Destinee & Paris", made an appearance on American Idol, released a new single and currently on tour with Brittany Spears - all as "Destinee & Parise". Can I get the protection lifted to update the page? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destinee_%26_Paris)

Thanks

Any activity in D&P's career?[edit]

In January, the consensus was that Destinee & Paris did not warrant a standalone article; the information about them was sufficiently covered in Clique Girlz. What has changed since then? What new independent reliable sources have been published about them? If there have been changes, I'm open to considering whether they should now have an article, but it would help to have a discussion on what's changed. —C.Fred (talk) 00:31, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, a lot has changed. If you looked at the October 10 revision (click prev), there are resources, materials, cites, everything for a great article. We just need people to edit it and make it better! Put your name on my user page if you agree! :) ★♛iluvselenagomez1234♛★ (talk) 00:37, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And since October, one of those sources has gone dead.[1] Looking at the URL, it was a 2008 source anyway, so that's not a change. —C.Fred (talk) 01:04, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Everyone, I wanted to restart discussion on this article. There has been updates in Destinee and Paris's career, more than enough to warrant their own page. They are a totally different group than the Clique Girlz. Clique Girls are now a defunct group and Destinee and Paris have been a new separate group for a while now. They are legally signed to Interscope Records as "Destinee & Paris" (http://www.interscope.com/artist/default.aspx?aid=1178)

Can the protection be lifted so we can update the article?

A few new sources include:

Destinee & Paris released a new single: http://www.interscope.com/artist/releases/detail.aspx?pid=3059&aid=1178

They made an appearance on American Idol: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/top_three/egg-harbor-township-sisters-sing-backup-vocals-on-american-idol/article_7e73e886-71e1-11e0-9e99-001cc4c03286.html

They are currently on tour with Brittany Spears: http://www.worldnews.se/news/44041/britney-spears-taps-destinee-amp-paris-for-european-tour/ Jasmith1990 (talk) 02:54, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Being backup singers on American Idol doesn't really count for much in the notability department. Opening for Britney does. However, with just one source and one tour, I'm not quite convinced yet—though I'm considering the situation. —C.Fred (talk) 03:18, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
They were officially introduced on American Idol (and in the credits) as "Destinee & Paris" - which proves that they are officially recognized as their own group and no longer part of Clique Girlz. Jasmith1990 (talk) 03:43, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
They also appeared on a TV show on the Disney Channel called "So Random" on episode #26. They are officially credited as "Destinee & Paris" and performed one of their songs on the episode. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_So_Random!_episodes Jasmith1990 (talk) 03:54, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

According to wikipedia's Criteria for musicians and ensembles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BAND#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles), #10 says "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc." Destinee & Paris have met this by a performance on the Disney TV Show "So Random". They also had a song included on the soundtrack for the "Despicable Me" movie soundtrack - which was the #1 movie at the box office on July 11th, 2010.

According to wikipedia's Criteria for musicians and ensembles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BAND#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles), #4 says "Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country." Destinee & Paris is currently touring with Brittany Spears in both the US and Europe.

  • I've put a notice about this thread at Talk:Clique Girlz. If there are no objections, I'll unprotect to allow a stand-alone article for Destinee & Paris. —C.Fred (talk) 21:36, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks C.Fred - It's been over a week and no comments or objections on Clique Girlz Talk page. Can you unprotect? Thanks Jasmith1990 (talk) 17:43, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
