Neither the DesktopBSD nor PC-BSD projects intend to rival each other and are completely independent projects with distinctive features and very different attitudes.

Define attitude in the context! 86.35.80.10 07:56, 10 January 2007 (UTC) Béranger[reply]

My thought exactly, that is definitely not written in an encyclopedic style! I encourage someone who knows more about the subject to rewrite (at least) that section. 83.177.66.212 11:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had a stab at updating this a bit, and I didn't like the AMD64 sticking point as a a goal as from reading the PC-BSD mailing lists there's an AMD64 release intended. Legios (talk) 02:54, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Architectures[edit]

Currently it shows architectures available for IA-32 and AMD64 architectures. Shouldn't this read: "x86 and X86_64" or "32-bit and 64-bit processors"? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Felipe1982 (talkcontribs) 04:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

freeBSD ?[edit]

the release is for centOS compat/linux-c7 (c for centos). i cannot find freeBSD source for "linux-c7" just allot x64 binary blobs. reguardless ...

i do not believe KDE nor any KDE release is released for freeBSD. it runs under ubuntu/linux suse/linux or linux emulation.

simply put: that's still running on linux requiring all linux libraries and ubuntu libc hacks ... it does not run on freeBSD it runs in an emulator — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:143:480:A4C0:E4F8:991B:314E:B0D7 (talk) 00:33, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

release/rc[edit]

The current 'release' is in fact DesktopBSD 1.6RC3, 1.0 isn't anymore the suggested version to use. There are delays due to the AMD64 version of DesktopBSD, both of them should be in sync. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.21.82.173 (talk) 14:00, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://desktopbsd.net/pipermail/general/2009-September/000236.html :

This is the last and final release of the DesktopBSD project. I find myself having less and less time to spare lately and no longer desire to keep developing and maintaining this project. However, because DesktopBSD is based entirely on FreeBSD, further support for the operating system and availability of up-to-date software is ensured.
