Current wiki shows "unreliable source" next to Mindat, whenever it points to the desert as being a location where the desert rose is mined from, and next to passages regarding the inclusion of sand grains in the desert rose.

The source that is being sited as unreliable is literally a database of registered mines.

Additionally, the chemical composition of the desert rose includes gypsum, which is water soluble. Gypsum is only found in places that have evaporated out their water, like former sea beds or former hot springs.

So yes, deserts are going to be where you find the desert rose, because the crystallization is caused by an area getting rain, dissolving the gypsum, and then evaporating, causing the crystals to form again.

Nothing was marked in "Talk" as to why the source was unreliable. Removing the "unreliable" source tag, and ensuring the link goes directly to a list of areas the desert rose is found (which is still called a mine, even if it can be scooped off the surface).
