Can not beleive that there was a vote to delete the article about Derek Rae, he is the main voice of ESPN's european soccer coverage, he host Press Pass twice a week, and also one of the main callers of the La Liga, Fa Cup and Champions league

Phony Accent[edit]

Why is there no mention of Rae using a pathetically fake American accent during 1998 World Cup matches? This guy is a fraud, a nobody, and a first-rate dork. He also lies about his age; if he was born in 1967, then I am a toddler. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.38.113.100 (talk) 15:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Birth Year[edit]

The given source that Rae was born in 1967 is clearly incorrect. Check out the following link - does this man look 42 to you? http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/content/Image/06-25-2008/Derek-Rae.jpg Rae is obviously at least 50.

Until a verifiable source is provided, no birth year should be listed.

Since when is the Boston Globe not a reliable source? See seventh paragraph referring to the "38-year-old Scot" in 2005: [1] See second paragraph referring to him being 29 years old in 1996: [2] Your opinion is irrelevant versus two matching published articles giving his age in a reliable source nine years apart. I didn't notice the second source - hmmm. I've seen the guy on TV and if he's really only 42, he's the oldest-looking guy under-50 I've ever seen in my life - seriously. I honestly could have sworn he was 60. Check this out: here's a photo of Rae's 75-year old co-commentator, Tommy Smyth. http://www.irishconnectionsmag.com/archives/v2i4/smith.jpg Does anyone really believe that Smyth is 33 years older than Rae?Manutdglory. Plagiarism[edit]

Several bits of this article are taken word for word from the Boston Globe article used as one of the sources. They need to be re-written, as they currently constitute plagiarism. Tad Lincoln (talk) 19:37, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
