Children[edit]

The article says he has two children by his first wife, Penny, yet if you follow the link to his second wife's Patricia's page it says there that they had two children. So one page or the other is wrong. -- Ralph Corderoy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ralph Corderoy (talkcontribs) 11:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

'what a midget'[edit]

that made me laugh, should probably be changed back though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Valerieg (talkcontribs) 20:40, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

'Further work'[edit]

Just popped in to state that Waterman also played in The_Life_and_Loves_of_a_She-Devil - the BBC version.

Made a change for the sake of clarity (it confuses Waterman having daughters with his own daughter by the change of subject).

"Hannah also has appeared in New Tricks. She appears thinking the Dennis Waterman character is her father which he turns out not to be in a secret paternity test he arranges, but tells her she is. She finds out the truth, but he does take on a father figure role." <--what does this all mean. To me it is incomprehensible. --Candy (talk) 12:25, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • In the series Dennis Waterman's character Gerry Standing is approached by a character named Emily, played by Waterman's real life daughter Hannah, who claims to be Gerry Standing's daughter from an affair the character had had years earlier. Gerry accepts Emily as his daughter but has doubts and so secretly uses his access to the police forensic labs to arrange a paternity test. The test reveals they are not related but Gerry, who has grown attached to Emily, keeps it secret. However the truth comes out when Gerry is giving evidence in a case when he is questioned by the defending counsel on how many children he has and his answers are hesitant. Emily, who is also in the court, takes Gerry's reluctance to answer as deriving from his unwillingness to lie under oath and as proof that he is not her biological father. However Emily appears again in later episodes of the show and eventually her and Gerry's relationship takes on the characteristics of a father-daughter bond anyway. It is a slightly complicated story and needs to be worded better in the article but I'm still working out the best way to present it. Keresaspa (talk) 19:38, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Title songs[edit]

I've been a long-time fan of Minder and Waterman, so, in the Little Britain cariciture section is said that there was 'citation needed' for the title songs (reportedly four), that he he has sung. I referenced 'On the Up' and 'Stay Lucky'. It is well-known that he sang the 'Minder' opening and the 'New Tricks' opening but I did not reference those - is this a problem? They should be easy to reference but I am a bit sleepy now, maybe someone else could do it? Mondegreen de plume (talk) 04:01, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, actually it was easy to find the refs, but the first two go to the same BBC bio page; can the be joined? Also, they do not appear in the external refs section; being new to Wikipedia, I don't know what happened or what went wrong, is there a way to fix this? Height[edit]

Is Waterman really five foot nine? He looked shorter than John Thaw in "The Sweeney". (92.7.29.234 (talk) 11:26, 16 June 2011 (UTC))[reply]

So, why don't you add it? Be bold. Also review MOS:TITLE: the titles of albums are italicized and the titles of songs go in "quotations". Try to find a better site that Amazon, like Allrovi/allmusic. > Best O Fortuna (talk) 18:23, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
