ok - this article says created under the Statute of Rhuddlan - the Laws in Wales Act 1535 creates a "County or Shire of Denbigh" from

You're probably not here to see this, but what's going on is:

Denbighland and Ruthin were lordships in Y Berfeddwlad (so, yes!)
Saint Taſse (it's a long s), now spelt St Asaph or Llanelwy, was a parish (albeit one containing a cathedral) in Y Berfeddwlad
Kinllethowen, usually spelt Cynllaith (with Owain being Glyndŵr, which might give some clue as to why the Act is so specific in carving up Powys Fadog into as many pieces as possible), was a commote in the Lordship of Chirkland in Powys Fadog
Bromfilde (this time, not a long s!), usually spelt Bromfield, was a lordship in Powys Fadog
Yale, or Iâl, was a cantref in Powys Fadog
Chirk was a parish and borough in Powys Fadog (and, yes, there is something odd about Chirk borough getting mentioned, but not Denbigh or Ruthin boroughs)
Chirkland was a lordship in Powys Fadog
Molesdale can either mean the cantref of Ystrad Alun in Powys Fadog, or the commote of Yr Wyddgrug (Mold, or according to Leland "Wriothegrig") within it; here they seem to have taken two of the three commotes (Yr Wyddgrug and Penarlâg), but not the third (Yr Hob)
Hopesdale, or yr Hob, was a commote in the cantref of Ystrad Alun in Powys Fadog

The 1542 Act moved Llanelwy, Ystrad Alun, and yr Hob into Flintshire, these becoming a parish in Rhuddlan hundred, the entirety of Mold hundred, and the detached (or non-detached, depending on how you look at it) part of Maelor hundred respectively. You really couldn't make it up.

The rest is relatively simple: Denbighland becomes Isdulas and Isaled Hundreds (both of which are horrendous misnomers); Ruthin becomes Ruthin Hundred; Bromfield becomes Bromfield Hundred; Yale becomes Yale Hundred; and Chirkland, Chirk, and Cynllaith become Chirk Hundred.

Probably the most interesting bit is the two misnamed hundreds. Isdulas contained two of the three commotes of the cantref of Rhos: Is Dulas and Uwch Dulas; the third, y Creuddyn, had become part of Caernarfonshire at some point. Isaled was equivalent to the cantref of Rhufoniog, which too had three commotes: Is Aled, Uwch Aled, and Ceinmerch (also called Cinmerch, Cynmerch, Ystrad, and Denbigh).

Denbigh Sanatorium 1950s[edit]

Please can you help. Does any one have any photos of the Llangwyfan Sanatorium?. I used to be a patient there in the early 1950s. Any thing at all please. Mr E. W. Williams
